A Loan Of $300 Helped To Buy Groceries
Philanthropist Welfont from Goodfield Tampa fully funded a microloan for Nayuma, a general store owner from the Philippines.
Here is Nayuma’s Story
If you are in La Carlota, Negros Occidental in the Philippines, you will find Nayuma hard at work running a general store where she gets income to help her family. She is 46 years of age and is married with four children, and of her children, only one is in school. For the past four years she has been selling a variety of items including snack foods, canned goods and other groceries. So that she can increase the amount of groceries in her shop, she is looking for a loan to get more stock. Her long-term dream is earning enough money to send her children to college.
She recently decided to approach Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation for a loan of 13,000 PHP. The funds she would receive would go towards buying more groceries for her to sell in her store. Her loan was locally disbursed by the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF). Due to the facilitation from Kiva’s lending platform and the NWTF, Welfont fully funded Nayuma’s loan, bringing her one step closer to sending her children to college.
